ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Matthew and a dedicated, integrative, hard working person. My interests are varied and I try to manage my time between my continuous learnings, personal ventures, and professional work (which I will discuss in the other tabs).

First, my continuous learnings. I started off studying marine biology, where besides looking intensely at the fishes and other sea life I knew the foundations for all the major disciplines (biology, chemistry, physics, math, and environmental science). While studying the sciences, I also got to do a multitude of research studies and had done many presentations as a result of that. After that, I got interested in GIS or Geographic Information Systems since it was a novel field. GIS is in a way the intersection of science and data, and thereby, the public. Since this discipline is in between spaces, it can be versatile in many different fields of study. Presently, I am learning accounting, which at first may seem odd because it's not connected but I find that to be the contrary. Accounting is simply organizing numeric data in a way that is understandable to the public. It is also versatile since every discipline needs accountants no matter how different it may seem.

Second, personal ventures. I began being a part something more than myself in the form of Boy Scouts when I was young. Since, then I became an Eagle Scout, created a college club and maintained it for 3+ years, got involved with InterVarsity, occasionally help out in my local arboretum, and currently involved with the communications team at a data club.
